For vendors

Apply for verification.

The review confirms what public registries cannot show, and the report says what we could and could not confirm — including when that is less than you claim. Read the Verification Standard before you apply.

Before you start

You must already be in the directory.

Verification is available only to vendors we have already found and listed. If we could not locate a company in any licensing or certification record, it cannot apply — the shield sits on top of a listing, it does not create one.

Inclusion in the directory is editorial and cannot be purchased. If your company is missing, check the directory first, then email editorial@compareitad.com and we will review the omission.

The terms

The founding cohort is verified at no cost.

Compare ITAD Verification is a paid service, and pricing will be published on the Verification Standard when the paid tier opens. It has not opened yet. Applications accepted now are reviewed at no charge, and there is no payment step in this form.

In exchange, we ask two things: that we may name you as a founding verified vendor, and that we may publish the process — the review itself, the evidence we asked for, and what we found.

Paying nothing does not buy a result. The standard applied to the founding cohort is the standard on the Verification Standard page, the outcome is not guaranteed, and the report is published whatever it says. When the paid tier does open, the fee will buy the review, never the tier.

Two cases where a future fee would be retained without a badge issuing.

Stated here because the Standard requires them to appear before any payment step, and they will still be true when one exists.

  • The vendor is not in the directory. They cannot apply, and no fee is taken.
  • A claimed licence turns out to be invalid, lapsed, or nonexistent, or the vendor misrepresented a material fact. The review was performed, so the fee is retained, and no badge issues until the underlying problem is fixed.

We do not use a refund-on-rejection model. If we only kept money from approvals, we would be financially motivated to approve.

The review

What we check.

Registry verification is free, automatic, and already running on your profile. This is the part registries cannot show.

  • Licence and registration status confirmed against the issuing state authority
  • Certificate documents obtained directly and checked against issuer records
  • Scope verification — which facility, which processes, which data-destruction methods the certification actually covers, rather than a company-level yes/no
  • Regulatory and enforcement history: state environmental agencies, EPA actions, court records, consent decrees
  • Business standing: entity status, ownership, years operating
  • Insurance certificates against the coverage minimums in the vendor agreement
  • Facility confirmation: each processing location, owned versus subcontracted
  • Certification expiry monitoring for the full term, with renewal follow-up

The three tiers

What you can be awarded.

TierWhat it asserts
Verified — BaseThe vendor exists, is licensed to operate as an ITAD vendor in the states claimed, and is recognised as valid there. They can lawfully dispose of equipment.
Verified — Regulated Industries (RI)Additionally holds the documented certifications and controls required for regulated-industry work — healthcare, financial services, government.
Verified — Critical Infrastructure (CI)Additionally holds the documented certifications and controls required for critical-infrastructure environments.

Every eligible vendor who applies is verified at Base. RI and CI are earned on documented evidence and cannot be purchased. Applying for a tier you cannot evidence returns Base — that is the process working, not a rejection.

What to have ready

What you will be asked for.

Anything obtainable from a registry, we obtain ourselves. These are the pointers that let us look, plus the documents no registry holds. Do not attach them to the form below — we request them once eligibility is confirmed.

Legal entity details

Registered legal name, state of incorporation, and any DBAs the business trades under. We confirm entity standing ourselves.

States where you are licensed

Every state in which you hold an e-waste, recycler, or transporter registration. We confirm each one against the issuing state authority.

Certificate numbers and issuing bodies

R2v3, e-Stewards, NAID AAA, ISO — certificate number and issuer for each. We obtain the certificate documents directly and check scope, not just status.

Facility list

Every processing location, and for each one whether it is owned, leased, or subcontracted. Subcontracted is not a mark against you; an undisclosed subcontractor is.

Certificates of insurance

Current COIs covering general liability, professional/E&O, and environmental liability, checked against the coverage minimums in the vendor agreement.

A compliance contact

Someone who can answer questions about scope and enforcement history. Most reviews need one conversation; some need none.

The application

Apply.

No payment is taken here, and none is due for the founding cohort. An editor confirms eligibility and replies with the document request within five business days.

1. Your directory listing *

Verification is open only to vendors already in the directory. Start typing your company name.

Contact

Must be at your company’s domain. Personal email addresses are rejected.

2. Tier you are applying for *

Every eligible vendor is verified at Base. RI and CI are earned on documented evidence — applying for one you cannot evidence returns Base, not a rejection.

3. What we will be checking

Summaries are enough here — we request the documents themselves after eligibility is confirmed. Do not attach certificates to this form.
